American Sabor: Play That Hook

For EMP|SFM’s exhibit American Sabor, I designed a bi-lingual interactive keyboard that taught hooks from songs like “La Bamba” and “Low Rider” simon-says style.  The keyboard used had a light up key feature that the guest could follow, adding one musical phrase at a time until the hook was complete.  The second part of the interactive was a free play look into some of the vintage organs that was integral to the Latino rock sound.

The interactive was Macromedia Director based using the MIDIioXtra to manage MIDI communication to the keyboard.  MIDI output was routed virtually to the Native Instruments B4 II organ simulator.
